Trail Work Party

  • MacGillvary Falls Trailhead Caddy Lake, MB, R0E 2H0 Canada (map)

Join us for a work party

This month, we are focusing on the Centennial Trail, in the area of McGillivray Falls.

Location: McGillivray Falls Trailhead, Whiteshell Provincial Park

Plan: Get ready for 6 hours of deadfall clearing and trimming. We’ll be packing the trails and ensuring the corridor is clear for safe winter passage.

When:  We'll kick off our day by meeting at the McGillivray Falls Parking Lot at 9:00 am https://maps.app.goo.gl/vnhoA8dfvWAGRLFN8 (Pit toilet available on site). Carpool meet up in Winnipeg TBD - reach out if interested.

Why should you join us?

  • Get some exercise: Trail stomping is a great way to get your heart pumping.

  • Help out your fellow trail users: By packing down the trails, you'll make it easier for others to enjoy them.

  • Have fun: It's a great way to meet new people and spend the morning outdoors.

What to bring:

  • Warm sturdy boots

  • Warm clothing

  • Snacks and drinks

  • Snowshoes (if you don’t have any, we have a limited number of pairs we can lend out, let us know on the form if you need to borrow)

  • Dry clothes to change into after our snowshoe

Plan: Trail work could include things like clearing dead-fall, trash clean up, trimming around trail signage, etc.

Participant Requirements:

  • Participants will be required to use hand tools like loppers and/or folding saws.

  • Participants should be able to carry a pack with their own water/snacks for the day as well as have the stamina to cover the hike into the more remote areas of the trail MATR is responsible for.

  • We welcome four-legged friends on the trail under the following conditions: Any dogs must be leashed if accompanying us, both for safety reasons (tools are dangerous) and to comply with leash laws requiring all pets to be on leash in provincial parks

Carpooling from Winnipeg will be arranged amongst those who RSVP by signing up. You must RSVP for this trail work event.

Please complete this waiver if it’s your first time joining us for trail work in 2026 and email it to volunteer@matr.ca before joining us.

DYK: MATR members earn UTofMB points for participating in trail work?
