Single Track Sunday
We’re heading back to where it all started for Single Track Sundays, Bear Lake and Hanson’s Creek to the red bridge three years ago in March!
When: 10:00 am at the trailhead, welcome and run 10:15 am
Where: Bear Lake & Centennial Trail to Hanson’s Creek, Whiteshell Provincial Park
Our day will start with running to the Bear Lake lookout point (heading down to the lake is optional!).
Bear Lake is an out-and-back trail totalling about 6 km. Faster runners can run repeats of the trail while the party-at-the back runners complete the route.
Those runners who’d like to do a longer run will head onto the Centennial Trail to the Hanson's Creek bridge. Hello, photo op!
The Centennial Trail to Hanson’s Creek is approximately 3.8 km, so the out-and-back is approximately 7.6 km.
Total kilometres will be from 6 to 14.5 km if you choose to run both trail sections. Faster runners are welcome to do more if they’d like to run repeats on Bear Lake or continue past the bridge on Hanson’s Creek.
Both trails have a few more technical scrambles and are FUN, FUN, FUN!
This is a fun group run, and no one will be left behind. We aspire to create an environment for all abilities. However, this is an “unsupported run,” which means you are responsible for your drinks and snacks while on this excursion.
There are basic outhouse facilities at the Bear Lake trailhead. planning this outing regardless of the temperatures. Pack your own water and snacks for the trail.
Hot Tip: Have a change of clothes and shoes for the ride home. You can get chilled quickly in damp running clothes, particularly in cooler temperatures.
NOTE: We’re all-weather people and run under all conditions. However, this event may be rescheduled if the road conditions make travelling unsafe on the day.
