Join us for a work party on the Trans Canada Trail
Recent intell has told us Centennial is in great shape for Suffer on Centennial so we’re shifting our efforts elsewhere this month. We’ll be focusing on a stretch of the TCT from Cabin Lake.
When: 9:00 am at the trail head
Where: Cabin Lake Trailhead (Whiteshell Provincial Park). No outhouses on site, plan accordingly!
Plan: W Expect a 10 km out-and-back session focusing on re-establishing a under-used section of the Trans Canada Trail (TCT). We will start with light maintenance on the Cabin Lake Trail before venturing south of the Cabin Lake campsite (outhouse available).
Our primary goals are to clear the overgrown path and install new signage, aiming to connect this stretch to the better-maintained section of the trail before returning to the trailhead.
As always, we go out rain or shine. We typically spend 6-7 hours on the trail covering significant ground, so please pack extra food, a full water bottle, and definitely a dry set of clothes and shoes for after the work is done.
Activities can include sawing, lopping, brush cutting, clearing deadfall and downed trees, raking trail, and installing signage. Potential for some polar dips at Red Rock Lake if the ice is off the water once finished back at the trailhead.
Carpooling from Winnipeg will be arranged amongst those who RSVP by signing up. You must RSVP for this trail work event. Please complete this waiver if it’s your first time joining us for trail work in 2026 and email it to volunteer@matr.ca before joining us.
