Single Track Sunday

When: 8:45 am at the trailhead, run by 9:000 am
Where: Cabin Lake Trailhead

After a productive trail work day in May, we can’t wait to take you to the OTHER red bridge in the Whiteshell this month, so we’ll head up to Cabin Lake Trail for our July Single Track Sunday.

We’ve planned a short (7-ish km) and long route 7+8ish km) route option for you on this run. This route is made by linking two out-and-back sections. Note there are no washrooms at this trailhead. Please plan to stop along the way to empty your tanks… if need be.

We’ll start by running to the Cabin Lake backcountry campsite(.gpx), which takes us over the red bridge (hello photo op!!), before turning back to where we came from. We spent 10 hours brushing and signing this section in May so it should be in great shape for us. There is a mix of slabby granite, little technical rock gardens, and a beaver dam to traverse. This is shown by the green trail on the map.

Once we hit the junction near the start, runners wishing to add some extra distance, can take the TCT connector to Jessica Lake(.gpx). As a group, MATR worked on this stretch several times in 2025, but we haven’t had a chance to do any maintenance in this direction yet this year. An out and back. This trail is marked by the blue on the map

We welcome all runners (and hikers) to these events! We hope to see you there.

Hot Tip: Have a change of clothes and shoes for after the run. And don’t be surprised if some of go for a dip in Red Rock lake at the end of the run!

NOTE: We’re all-weather people and run under all conditions. However, this event may be rescheduled if the road conditions make travelling unsafe on the day.
