Single Track Sunday

When: 9:30 am at the trailhead
Where: Stony Mountain Quarry Trails, Stony Mountain

Let’s run the Stony Mountain Quarry Trails this winter

The Fossil Ridge loop at Stony Mountain Quarry is approximately 2.6km. We’ll run it several times and explore some of the ways to crisscross around the quarry and on some of the single track on the edges.

Pack your own water/hydration and snacks for the trail.

We try to organize a carpool before each event to reduce the number of vehicles at trailheads and reduce our group emissions. If you’re interested in carpooling, please email us at info@matr.ca with your name and area of the city. We’ll try to connect people interested in carpooling in advance.

Hot Tip: Have a change of clothes and shoes for the ride home. You can get chilled quickly in damp running clothes, particularly in cooler temperatures. A thermos of something warm to drink afterwards is also nice on cold days.

NOTE: We’re all-weather people and run under all conditions. However, this event may be rescheduled if the road conditions make travelling unsafe on the day.

Fossil Ridge Loop

The main Fossil Ridge loop skirts the perimeter of the quarry and is well marked with signposts along the way.

Optional route

There are many ways to criss-cross and combine sections of trail across the quarry, as well as adding on stretches of single track along the northern edge of the quarry and heading through town for a bit of extra single track on the southern edge.

We’ll see what the group feels like exploring after doing one clockwise loop of the Fossil Ridge trail and one counter-clockwise loop.
